Shendao kung Fu

Created by UKTQF Founder – Raymond Towers
Shen Dao Kung Fu means working hard at developing a good spirit. It is founded largely on Tai chi Chuan and therefore shares many of its principles and forms.

It brings into its practice other systems such as:

- Baguazhang (based upon Taoist circle walking)
- Xingyi-quan (a much more direct form of self defense)
- Feng-shou (similar to tai chi but incorporating vey fast hand movements)
- There is also a special system for joint locking and complementary exercises that are thought of as the keys to successful practice.

Shen Dao Kung Fu is a complete fighting system in its own right; however it places as strong an emphasis on Health as it does on self defense, and ultimately uses the training methods of martial arts as a tool for calming the ego.

Anyone who practices this art can expect to greatly improve their strength and health, whilst having fun and learning something new!

Holistic strength and health - Studying the arts leads people to view strength and health in a new light. Sometimes during training, a strong man is surprised to be pushed across a room by a much smaller woman - much to the amusement of everyone else! Situations like these are possible because good posture, whole body movement and even a persons breathing and intent all play a role. How 'holistically' strong you feel depends on whether you feel light, loose, supple strong, warm, balanced, confident, quick, responsive, alert etc... Do your bones feel solid? Do you feel co-ordinated?

Likewise, health is often viewed simply as the absence of illness, high energy levels or physical fitness. However it also manifests itself through balanced emotions, calmness, good sleep, waking early, good appetite, good temperature regulation, skin complexion, longevity, confidence, creativity, happiness, etc... Strength and health mutually support one another, and together improve the quality of life. (Self defence against emotional and physical attack is included as well as injury prevention and reduced risk of serious illness).
